nJoy Electronic Cigarette Review (Part 1)

nJoy cigarette size comparison
from left to right: Marlboro Ultra Light 100, pen, nJoy cigarette, pencil

A week or so ago I ordered the nJoy electronic cigarette.  I've tried to quit smoking before, and although I had no problems stopping (apart from the 1-2 day nicotine withdrawl), I've always felt like starting up again because the thing I was really addicted to doing was the action of smoking.  Well, over lunch one day I heard someone talking about electronic cigarettes, so I decided to look it up.  The fact that these seem to be relatively harmless (no tobacco, tar, carcinogens, etc) was very appealing, and I could fulfill my desire to actually inhale something. In the past, I've tried nicotine patches (I actually got poisoned from one), but as I pointed out before, the thing I miss most when I stop smoking is the actual action of smoking, not the nicotine itself, so, needless to say, the patch didn't work.

After doing some reading online, I decided on ordering the nJoy cigarette and a pack of medium refills. The first thing that really struck me was how big this thing was.  I've taken a picture of the device with some things to compare it to, since I didn't really find that anywhere online before I placed my order.

Apart from the size, the other thing I didn't really like was my color choice.  If I were to order again, I would probably choose the black model.  When I ordered, I thought I would get white since it would match the white Marlboro Ultra Lights 100s that I smoked.  Well, since this thing doesn't even closely resemble a cigarette, I would suggest going with the black instead.  But, of course, everyone has their own preferences.

Besides the looks of this thing, I do have to say I'm pretty pleased with it.  It actually gives you the sensation of smoking, and the fact that I can do it indoors without bothering anyone is a very nice plus.  I still like to go outside and "smoke" sometimes since it provides a nice break from the desk, but at least when it is raining (and in the winter, when it is cold), it is good to know that I can remain indoors.

The taste of the smoke is not too different from the Ultra Lights I smoked, but that's really not saying much, since these certainly lack the taste of stronger cigarettes.  I haven't tried the "High" refill yet ( my nJoy package came with a high, medium, low, and "no" nicotine refill), so I can't really comment on the taste of that, but I can say that if you smoke Marlboro Ultra Lights (or anything similar), you probably won't be terribly disappointed with the taste.  It isn't exactly the same, but it certainly is a better replacement than nothing.

I've gone back to my cigarettes a few times, mostly out of habbit, but I can see myself quitting smoking actual cigarettes by using this as a replacement.  It, in my opinion, is a suitable alternative to smoking if your addiction was to doing something with your hands and inhaling smoke.

My biggest complaint with the nJoy cigarette is the price of the refills.  Although they try to make it slightly less than buying regular cigarettes, it still seems like a ripoff.  Basically, the refill consists of the mouthpiece, along with some cotton (or plastic fibers, I'm not sure what it is) soaked in their nicotine-containing substance.  There's really no reason why we shouldn't be able to purchase a bottle of this substance and do our own refills this way.  There would be several advantages to doing this, such as being able to adjust the taste ourseves, and of course the price.  Since there isn't too much liquid in each refill, a bottle should last for a very long time, and it could come out to be significantly cheaper than paying $25 for a week's' worth of refills.

Hi, I also bought an NJOY  NPRO while in the USA 2 weeks ago. It is really doing the trick, no more standing outside and when I have sat with friends many of which are anti smoking due to no odour on using the NPPRO no one complains. I was concerned about buying refil cartridges from USA due to delivery time and shipping cost but the USA NJOY site is now UK flagged and is actually pointing to www.njoyuk.co.uk which is the recently opened UK and Ireland distributor .
Enjoy the NJOY

The problem with having your own bottle and "doing-it-yourself" is that people could KILL themselves from nicotine overdose, so though that might sound budget-friendly in your mind, it you be a HORRIBLE idea. Also, you can find re-fill cartridges at any pilot for $20

Nicotine poisoning is pretty serious ( I had it once from gum ), and people should be aware that it is possible to get poisoned fairly easily, whether you use electronic cigarettes or any tobacco product.  Keep in mind that the lethal dosage of nicotine (for most adults - according to wikipedia) is 40-60 mg of nicotine.  Most refil cartridges and e-liquids top out at 16-24mg per refill ( although your body will not absorb 100% of the nicotine, you should always use it in moderation).

I purchased Njoy e cigarette starter kit. First of the second battery never worked since the purchase. Secondly, the cartridges I could only get about 5 to 7 puffs and then it didnt work anymore. I have emailed NJOY several times and called them daily to see if I should bring it back to the store I purchased it at or have them replace the kit. They do NOT answer the emails nor does anyone answer the phones.

nJoy cigarette might lessen the impact of actual cigarettes, but the damage is still done. it is always better to move away from such things and get addiction treatment</a>.

I sure get tired of hearing..... Well it's still harmful if you smoke e cigarettes!! This is true, but why do non smokers justify the fact that some drink like a fish and it too can kill you ( or whoever you hit head on in a collision ).. but they can drink in moderation and say that it's acceptable? That is all us smokers are doing, we are trying to smoke in moderation because like YOU non smokers, you like your few drinks even though alcohol can kill you too! I tried my first Njoy E Cigarette a month ago and have not touched a regular or (analog) cigarette since. I refill my own cartriages and I mix nic juice as if it were liquid plumber! I am an adult and I use caution to the max when dealing with anything that can harm myself or others around me, including pets and children! So enough of the " smokes are bad people and the only way is to quit, period! ".  There is no second hand smoke nor first hand smoke.... we are talking vapor here! I've done my research and i've done it well.....  I watch the commercials every night on TV trying to push the many pills that the FDA has approved and I find it funny how at the end you hear, This pill may cause kidney damage, low blood pressure, the poops, caughing, choking, death, neck pain, back pain and you should not take it while beast feeding or may become pregnant.... What in the name of God could be in these pills that would require such warnings?????  Do an honest research and tell me what e cigarettes will cause!
Just imagine:  Headline News:  50,000 less lung cancer patients due to e cigarettes in 2011 but 3 persons have died from nic poisoning. OMG we need to ban these things NOW!

Its not s Newport. Its not a Malboro. It's Enjoy. I like it. I bought the Express package and 10 Menthol cartrages today. I hardly touv=ched the remaining cigarettes I have all day. I dipped in them off and on because, well, I refuse to waste money so the will have to be consumed. This eCigarette dosn't take like a regular cigarette, but the flavor is new and okay with me. This may very well be a good practice to better health seeing that there is no smoke, tar and those so-called chemicals. Its just a theory, but I believe that this product can promote theropy toward stop smoking period! It dosent have a kick to it but it dose the job. A must have for chain smokers!!!!!! If you are the type that smoke to keep yourself occupied like me, this is a must! I'm not saying this is a  healthy alternative, but this is a true alternative rather than cigars which some people think they are a safe alternative. Never the less, this is, by appearance a safer alternative than a regular cigarette due to no first or second hand smoke and no tar. I strongly recomment that you NOT consume this produce around children under no circumstances, because I feel that all they see is the ecigarette and nothing else and that is more than enough reason not to consume in their presence.

There are certainly a lot of details like that to take into consideration. I think this is one of the best ways to quit smoking forever. Thanks for the reviews.

An electronic cigarette takes the form of some manner of elongated tube, though many are designed to resemble the outward appearance of real smoking products, like cigarettes, cigars, and pipes.

The njoy electronic cig is a good one if you are trying to quit you need to lower your nicotine strength little by little  for it to work right .

Smoke if you are cold and have no other source of heat. If there are no warm bodies to press up against, blankets or jackets to bundle up with, or even a desire inside you to run around and burn calories; by all means, spark up a fag.

Cigarette makes no vapor.   Cartridges are sealed so you cant add your own mixture.   Refunds are given under no circumstance.   Product is cheap and made in China.   Shipping / handling is way way over priced for a pack of cigarettes.   Total waste of money.

I personally haven't tried the Njoy e cigarette, but I agree with you about the price of refill carts generally being a rip off. Hopefully as the industry matures we will start to see companies enter the market how will offer better value and force all the others to follow suit.

I just bought the N Joy today for myself! I figured it up for myself each cartridge equals to a pack & a half of cigarettes for me. There is 5 refills in a box @ $20.00 a box. So that's 7 1/2 packs of cigarettes for me. So that already saved me some extra money!! Being cigarettes are $6.00 a pack!! I really believe I will be able to quit with this!! But like I said before this is my first day!! :0)
